Read this article if your school offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) and you would like TrackOne to recognise your IB students, apply your IB grading scale, and report on IB and non-IB cohorts separately.

What the IB settings do

TrackOne treats the IB programme as a parallel reporting stream. Once it is switched on, the Suite can:

• Identify which of your students are IB students, and show this on screen and in exports
• Recognise which of your subjects are IB subjects
• Apply your IB grading scale (for example 1–7) to IB results, while continuing to apply your standard scale (for example 1–5, 1–15 or 1–100) everywhere else
• Rank IB students against each other rather than against the wider cohort
• Let you filter any analysis to IB students, non-IB students, or all students

There are five places where IB is configured. All five work together, so it is worth reading the whole article before making changes.

1. Turn on the IB programme

This is the main switch. Nothing else in this article takes effect until it is ticked.

1. Select Administration from the top of the left-hand task panel.
2. Select Configuration, followed by School.
3. Stay on the School Information tab and scroll to the IB Program heading.
4. Tick IB program offered at school.
5. Click Save Configuration to save.

2. Tell TrackOne if your IB results use a different scale

Directly beneath the first option you will find IB results are mapped on a separate scale (e.g. 1-7) from non-IB results (e.g. 1-5, 1-15, or 1-100).

Tick this only if your IB results genuinely sit on a different scale to the rest of the school. When ticked, the Cohort Summary screen produces a separate IB Rank column alongside the standard Rank column, so IB students are ranked among themselves and are not compared against students graded on an incompatible scale.

Which of the two rank columns appears depends on the IB Student filter you have applied:

If your IB results are reported on the same scale as everything else, leave this option unticked.

3. Set the IB option in your synchronisation settings

Your student information system is what tells TrackOne which students are IB students, so the sync needs to know about the IB programme as well.

1. Select Administration from the left-hand task panel.
2. Select Data Synchronisation, followed by your system's setup screen (for example Synergetic Sync Setup or SEQTA Sync Setup).
3. Locate the IB School drop-down and choose the appropriate option.

Synergetic schools have two methods available:

• IB Students are identified based on the classes they take — a student is treated as an IB student if they are enrolled in a subject you have flagged as a core IB subject (see step 4)
• IB Students are determined using the Learning Pathway field — a student's IB status is read directly from the Learning Pathway recorded against them in Synergetic

Choose the method that matches how your school records IB enrolment. If you are unsure which applies, please lodge a support request before changing it.

Synergetic schools will also see an option to append 'IB' to all reporting objectives. This is used where the same objective codes are re-used across your IB and non-IB reporting streams, and adding 'IB' keeps the two sets of incoming results distinct. Only change this in consultation with the support team, as it affects how incoming results match your existing mappings.

Note: this setting is separate from the one in step 1, and neither one updates the other. Both need to be set.

4. Flag your IB subjects

1. Select Administration from the left-hand task panel.
2. Select Subject Setup, followed by Subject Creation.
3. Choose the relevant Year Level from the drop-down. Your subjects will be listed in the table below.
4. For each IB subject, tick the appropriate column.

IB Subject — tells the Suite that results for this subject should be read against your IB grading scale rather than your standard one.

Core IB Subject — identifies the subject as one that only IB students take. Students studying a core IB subject are marked as IB students throughout the Suite.

These are two independent settings and ticking one does not tick the other. A typical setup flags all IB subjects as IB Subject, and flags only the compulsory IB subjects (such as Theory of Knowledge) as Core IB Subject.

Changes save as soon as you tick the box. To add a subject that does not yet appear, use Add New Subject and set the two IB options in the panel that appears.

Please note: as with all changes on this screen, IB subject flags will not be reflected through the rest of the Suite until the next synchronisation from your student information system has completed. This normally runs overnight.

5. Set up your IB grading schemas

TrackOne needs a set of result mappings for your IB scale, kept separate from your standard ones. This means you will have two versions of each relevant schema: one for IB and one for everything else.

1. Select Administration from the left-hand task panel.
2. Select Analytics Setup, followed by the schema area you are configuring — Overall Result, Criteria, Engagement or Behaviour.
3. Create or edit the schema for your IB results, entering the result codes and values for your IB scale.
4. Tick Schema is an IB schema.
5. Click Save or Update to finish.

Leave your existing non-IB schemas exactly as they are, and do not tick the IB option on them. The Suite needs both sides in place: it selects the IB schema for IB students and IB subjects, and the standard schema for everyone else.

Your IB schemas control the grades shown, the chart axis ranges, the display text and the calculation rules that apply to IB results, so it is worth reviewing them alongside your standard schemas before going live.

Note: the IB option only applies to Overall Result, Criteria, Engagement and Behaviour schemas. It is not used by Continuous, Learner Framework, Placemat or Custom schemas, and can be left unticked there.

Filtering by IB status

Once the IB programme is switched on, an IB Student filter appears in the standard student filter panel across the Suite, with Yes and No options.

• Tick Yes only to analyse IB students
• Tick No only to analyse non-IB students
• Tick both, or neither, to include all students

Please note that the filter opens with 'No' selected by default. This means that when you first open a screen such as Cohort Summary, you are looking at non-IB students only. If your numbers look lower than expected, this filter is the first thing to check. The exception is the Advanced student search, which opens with nothing preselected and therefore includes all students.

The IB Student filter is not offered on the Class Tools and Teacher screens, or on Wellbeing Analysis, as these already work within a defined class or group.

Where you will see IB information

Once the settings above are in place, IB detail appears in the following areas:

On screen

• Student profile — an IB Student Yes/No indicator
• Cohort Summary — an IB Student column, plus IB Rank where a separate scale is in use
• Absence Analysis — an IB Student column
• Academic At Risk — result options drawn from your IB grade mappings when IB students are selected

In exports

• Cohort Summary export
• Absence Analysis export
• Academic reports — Class Placemat and Cohort Assessment exports
• Pastoral reports — Pastoral Assessment export
• External Assessment reports — External Assessment export

Applied in the background

• Subject and overall results are read against the IB or standard grading scale as appropriate
• GPA is calculated using the matching scale, and each student is compared against a cohort of the same IB status
• Engagement with Learning uses the matching scale
• Academic goals and reflections offer the grades from the matching scale
• Charts use the axis range, interval and labels defined on the matching schema

Notes and things to check

• Access. You will need the Configuration Setup role permission to reach the School screen, Learning Analytics Setup – Academic for Subject Setup and Analytics Setup, and Data Synchronisation Management for the sync setup screens. Speak with your TrackOne administrator if these areas are not visible to you.
• Allow for a sync. Subject flags and student IB status are refreshed by the overnight synchronisation. Expect to wait a cycle before changes appear throughout the Suite.
• If IB students are showing standard grades, the usual cause is that no IB schema exists for that year level, period or objective. Where the Suite cannot find a matching IB schema it falls back to your standard one rather than showing an error, so results will look correct but be graded on the wrong scale. Check that an IB schema exists and covers the year level and period in question.
• If no students are showing as IB students, check the synchronisation setting in step 3 and your Core IB Subject flags in step 4, then confirm a sync has run since the change.
• 'Schema is an international student schema' is a different feature and is not related to the IB programme. Leave it unticked unless you are specifically configuring international student reporting.
• Some schools' setups may need additional configuration depending on how IB results are recorded in their external systems. Please lodge a support request and the team will look at options with you.
